Prototypes
01Apr02
The first S0UNDB1TS prototype with 192 channels (16 x 12) has been built in spring 2002 in our office at IRCAM and a larger version in IRCAM’s Studio 6 a little later.
The S0UNDB1TS software has been originally developed for jMax (a graphical programming environment similar for multi-media applications developed at IRCAM) running on Linux.
The early experiments with the matrices focussed on the exploration of acoustic and musical possibilities before creating generators of sound textures and musical structures.
Here are some images of these prototypes.
A similar 192-channel version has also been installed for the Resonaces festival at IRCAM in october 2002.
